I have always been drawn to dance as a form of communication beyond words—a universal language of rhythm, energy, and connection. Where words can falter, dance creates bridges, carrying meaning and emotion in ways we can all understand. Photographing dancers feels like capturing fragments of that unspoken dialogue, a moment where music and movement merge into something bigger than either on their own.

I felt this deeply at Robin Gorn’s Soft Wing CD launch in Montreal. Her debut album draws on world music and Afro-Latin traditions, and the celebration naturally spilled into dance. Watching Claudine Malard’s powerful performance—and photographing the joy that unfolded around her—was unforgettable. Each image felt like a translation of the music’s spirit into motion, a reminder of how art in its many forms connects us.
